From what i hear it used to be the grasping of the forearms in order to see if their was a consealed dangger...then it slowly moved to the hands when such was not as much of consern, but the tradition of it was somewhat held...
Love the picture, girl! It reminds me of that scene on "One Night with the King" where the girl is rubbing water(or whatever it is) with the flower petals in it on her arms.
